Our Story

Perfect Timing

After unknowingly crossing paths throughout their lives, Laura and Jack finally met in the fall of 2015. While circumstances didn't lead to immediate romance, it was a short year later that fate brought the two together again on a dating app. Laura swiped right and struck up the conversation with a stellar one-liner, "Tell me more.." The conversation carried on for weeks and the two ended up ghosting one another. As romances go, timing was again not on their side.

A mere six months later, Jack ran into Laura's sister and found himself thinking of the possibilities of a future with Laura. While Laura had just moved off to Newport to being a career in the Navy, Jack sent a text to reinitiate things. Their relationship began over texts and remained that way for some months. Laura graduated from Officer Development School and moved down to Virginia where the two were able to see each other a great deal. Laura found excuses to return to Philadelphia whenever possible (not wanting to seem too keen and scare Jack off) and Jack soon hoped on 95 quite often himself. After a year of excessive E-Z Pass payments, the two decided enough was enough and Jack moved down to DC.

The two suffered a bit of a shock through their first 525-square-foot apartment together, but the trials and tribulations of small home living only brought them closer together. After deciding it was time for a bit more space and making the even bigger decision to become puppy parents, Jack and Laura received short notice orders that Laura would be deploying on the USNS COMFORT. Again, life was not going as planned, but 13 countries, a now 96-pound Frankie boy, and two whirlwind romance weekends later, deployment had ended and Laura was home in Jack's arms.

Now that Laura was home, Jack, weighed down by some important rocks in his pocket, was ready to ask a question. While out on a country walk with their boy, the three stopped as a family under a tree at a local preserve in Willistown. This was a spot where they went for one of their first dates, a spot where they often walk with Franklin, and a spot they plan to return to for many years with their growing family. Laura said yes and family was waiting nearby for celebratory brunch.

In November of 2020, Jack and Laura met back at their engagement tree and exchanged their forever vows amongst their immediate families. With the COVID craze, numbers were limited to immediate family and the Navy leave restrictions almost canceled these plans, but they were able to have their flower girls there to dump flowers and their Franklin there to sleep quietly through the ceremony until it was time for the rings, which he had fastened around his neck. The ceremony was quiet and cozy, and the couple was simply overjoyed to be husband and wife.

Yet again, Laura and Jack's plans were forever altered as they welcomed baby girl Elizabeth in December 2021. As such, a large international wedding is no longer in the cards, but a merry celebration at the Radnor Hunt Races in May is! Fingers crossed this one works and they are finally able to celebrate with all of you!

As you, the reader, have now learned, timing has never been this couples strong suit nor may it ever be "just right". We ask that you bear with us through this trialing time.
