So I did a wipe re-install on the server hosting this site. I thought I had made good backpus of the databases hosted on the box, but when I sent to find them, they were GONE. All my old posts are therefore down the memory, so this site has been unintentionally cleaned up. Since I’m a crappy blogger, there were only about 12 posts made over the past 12 years, but I did have a lot of photo albums in the photos section that I’ll have to try and rebuild. (All the static content was backed up, but without the DB, all the organizational info is wiped.)

Somehow, I’ve gone from thinking about a move to Vegas to getting a federal scholarship to study Information Security in exchange for 2 years of service after graduation. Check out the details on the program’s website. I got interested thanks mostly to a student currently going through the program. He showed me the list of job offers he got, and it was an impressive list of federal alphabet soup including DHS, NSA, and USAF. Sounds like some really neat stuff, and with this new DoD cyber command being setting up, sounds like the feds are going to need people more than ever. The future looks bright, assuming the new guy coming to our family makes it here without any more hitches.
